American Development Model - 5 Stages

AGE SPECIFIC TRAINING 

The Kickboxing Athlete Development Model is a tool we use to guide us in deciding the ideal pathway for each student athlete. It is based on the US Olympic Sport framework named the American Development Model which is a Long Term Athlete Development framework.

Factors regarding Kickboxing and weight divisions are a unique challenge for all coaches. In the USA in Mens' weight classes the 155lb (70kg) up to 170lb ( 77kg) weight classes are the most populated in competition. We have to always put the interest and well being of each individual student athlete first before any gain an advantage in tournaments and championships. There are decisions to be made as a coach that should be reflected in that. There are also fewer females available at the high performance level.
