ANTI-DOPING: Wrap-up

Substances and methods include steroids, erythropoietin (EPO), human growth hormone (HGH) and blood doping, plus a number of ‘everyday’ medications such as prescription medication, over-the-counter medication, supplements and illicit drugs which can contain substances which are prohibited in sport. At the Bronze Level a coach is expected to know exactly where to find all up to date information on Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs).

But it is not only Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDS) that are of concern.

There are other invasive techniques and methods and the course will examine what is and what is not allowable in enhancing performance.

We also introduce you to Sport Integrity Australia that now covers all form of Sport Integrity issues: sportintegrity.gov.au

It is a brand new initiative and authority in Australia. It is unique approach and we are proud to include it in this unit.

The initiative acknowledges the three main participants of sport, athletes, coaches and officials and their relationships and overlaps. Sometimes the coach is an active athlete or official, especially in smaller Federations like ours, in which one person might play all 3 roles.
