Para Kickboxing Sport Development & Classification
From the website of the IPC Paralympics:
https://www.paralympic.org/classification
Classification is the cornerstone of the Paralympic Movement; it determines which athletes are eligible to compete in a sport and how athletes are grouped together for competition. In Para sports, athletes are grouped by the degree of activity limitation resulting from the impairment. This, to a certain extent, is similar to grouping athletes by age, gender or weight.
Classification is a structure for Para Kickboxing competition and is one of biggest differences between the Kickboxing at IOC recognized WAKO World Championships for both adults & youth in the seven disciplines of Kickboxing. Classification is the process by which athletes are assessed to determine the impact their impairment has on their ability to compete in the sport of Para Kickboxing.
